On this all-new episode of the show, the sonic journey takes us to Southern California by way of Columbus. Our guest’s music is full of catchy hooks and great harmonies, but don’t call them a pop-punk band…
The feel-good SoCal vibes are flowing freely this week, as Columbus rock band The Scratches join us in the studio. Their music evokes images of hanging out at the beach, catching some waves as you cutback with your surfboard, or dropping into the half-pipe on a skateboard.
Jimmy Cassell, Darby Antle and Bethany Myers (drummer Nick Carter was ill and couldn’t join us) share some of the history of the band, lineup changes, and the maturity that comes with time. They dish on the songwriting process and how the best ideas sometimes happen when they’re under a time crunch.
We play five of their songs, including a new one they released in March, 2019. They tell us the backstory of the songs as the show teeters on the edge of being out of control numerous times throughout the episode.
Staying true to form, it’s podcasting without a net…
