In what has become something of a ritual that portends the waning days of winter in Columbus, every March an underrated, yet vital pop-punk force of nature invades the Rumba Café on Summit St.

Having formed the band in 2000, Kelly Ogden (vocals/bass) and Luis Cabezas (guitar/vocals) are entering their third decade as The Dollyrots. The Make Me Hot Tour follows in the footsteps of the Party Time Excellent Tour (2019), the Rah! Rah! Radical Tour (2018) and the Whiplash Splash Tour (2017) with the annual Columbus gig.

Kelly, Luis and Justin McGrath (on the drums since 2018) are bringing the up-and-coming teenage trio Not Ur Girlfrenz (Dallas, TX) on the road with them for the Midwest leg of the tour. Don’t mistake the trio of 13 and 14-year-old girls of Not Ur Girlfrenz as a Kid Band, as they already have four tours and an EP release under their belts.

Having recently reissued Eat My Heart Out (2004) on vinyl, the promise of songs from that album, as well as tunes from every other album including their latest release from 2019, Daydream Explosion, foreshadows a tour packed with sonic goodness. The icing on the proverbial cake is the as yet, unreleased single that many fans are clamoring to hear.

Once again, they’re bringing their two kids on the road so they can tour as a family, with their son River and daughter Daisy Moon spreading smiles at every stop along the way.

Tickets are currently on sale and most of the shows are “all ages” events. The Make Me Hot Tour kicks off on February 28 in Virginia, winding its way through 12 states before concluding in California on April 4.

From the “In case ya missed it” department, their song “Everything” was voted Coolest Song In The World 2019 over the holidays on Sirius/XM’s The Underground Garage. Add to this the fact that Kelly’s morning show on Sirius/XM (channel 21) is gaining momentum every day.

The Dollyrots never fail to put on an energetic show, while always having a surprise or two hidden up their sleeves to drop on unsuspecting fans. The Make Me Hot Tour (w/Not Ur Girlfrenz) promises more of the same…
