This week, we stayed hunkered down and safe in our studio. This Coronavirus pandemic is forcing everyone to be creative in how they do what they do. We are in the same boat…
So, we reached out to my old stomping grounds of New York City and got a band that’s releasing a new album, Nothing Could Be Wrong, on May 8th. They’re great people playing under the nom de guerre Cup. The brainchild of Tym Wojcik (vocals/guitar), the band has a sound that is not easily pinned down. If you like Killing Joke, Bauhaus and/or Girls Against Boys, you’ll find something aurally pleasing with Cup.
In addition to Tym, the group is rounded out with Kelsey Chapstick (drums), Freddie Wyss (bass) and Chad Sardashti (synth/guitar). We jokingly described their sound as “The Cramps on Valium,” but it non-ironically fits. There are elements of goth, post-hardcore and liberal splashes of tongue-in-cheek fun woven throughout their music. Our conversation meandered all over the map and we’re looking forward to seeing them pay Columbus once things settle down a bit.
