This week, we continue our December road trip and crank up the fun with the wonderful sounds of the Chardon Polka Band from Chardon, Ohio. Jake Kouwe, Bob Young and Mitch Lawrence join us virtually from their polka bunker in northeast Ohio.
The jokes come hot and heavy from the very beginning of the show, as the guys call themselves the “Hanson of polka music.” With tongue planted firmly in their cheeks, the claim is made that they’re from northeast Ohio but based in Seattle these days, trying to capitalize on the grunge wave from just a little while ago…

The band released two full-length albums in November, A Very Polka Christmas and Oh No! Not Again! Of course, we focus on the Christmas album. They merrily address the polka stereotype of beer and sausage, talk about their tours around the United States, and we find out we are all big in the Netherlands…
It’s a fun-filled, somewhat raucous, and constantly entertaining show!
Music on this week’s episode (all songs from A Very Polka Christmas):
